When I read in The New Times of April 30th, 2010  that the President had visited the US based Greater Atlanta Christian School (GACS) located in Atlanta, with an aim of exploring an education partnership between the school and Rwanda, I was quite impressed by the initiative.

Most especially when I learnt that GACS is set to establish a Central Africa School of Excellence which will be based in Rwanda and serve about 2000 students when complete.

The only thing missing according to the school’s president, Dr. David Fincher, was determining the site of the complex in Rwanda.

In a similar vein, I want to congratulate the ten Rwandan graduates who yesterday graduated along with 300 classmates at the US based Oklahoma Christian University (OCU).

They were the first to complete their studies under the Presidential Scholars programme that was signed between President Paul Kagame and OCU, during his first visit to the university in 2006.

These graduates will be a rich source of human capital to Rwanda. I hope that they can realise their potentials because if they do, our development goals will be achieved faster
