Team Rwanda embark on Eritrea Tour preps

THE national cycling team-Team Rwanda has started training for the Tour of Eritrea scheduled for May 15 -21 in Asmara. Team Rwanda Coach Jonathan Boyer told Times Sport that the mountainous terrain in the event will suit the team.

THE national cycling team-Team Rwanda has started training for the Tour of Eritrea scheduled for May 15 -21 in Asmara.

Team Rwanda Coach Jonathan Boyer told Times Sport that the mountainous terrain in the event will suit the team.

"We have always performed well in hilly terrains.”
In the Tour of Cameroon, four-time Tour of Rwanda winner Abraham Ruhumuriza swept the mountain climbing category helping the team to an overall third spot finish.

Ruhumuriza, Nicodem Habiyambere, Nathan Byukusenge, Gasore Hategeka and Obed Ruvogera will lead Rwanda’s surge in Asmara.

Some of the teams expected include Morocco, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Kenya, Burundi, Egypt, Gabon, Cameroon, Benin, Ethiopia, Slovakia and hosts Eritrea.

After Eritrea, cyclists will quick switch their focus to the Kwita Izina cycling tour to be held at the end of this month.
