At 36, Nkunda is a spitting image of what every young man wants to be; Young, Handsome and Successful.
As a child, he pursued his education at Bat Valley Primary School, before heading to St. Mary's College Kisubi for O-level, St.Leo’s Kyegombe for A-level and finally completed his Law degree at the National University of Rwanda, in Huye District (then Butare).
"After my Law Degree I worked with the National Tender board from 1999-2003 as head of Legal Affairs, then went to Netherlands to pursue a Masters Degree in Business Law,” Nkunda said.
In 2004, together with his colleague, Richard Mugisha, they set up Trust Law Chambers.
This he says was not an easy task but owes the results to; hard work, determination and specialising in Business Law.
"Our association works with international business law firms like DentonWildesapte that has offices all over the world, so clients know that the company is strongly backed up and recognised,” he assured.
Being a role model for upcoming lawyers, Nkunda offers some tips to achieving success.
"Specialized education always helps in any profession, I was able to achieve greatly after my post graduate degree,” he explains.
"One should start up a business whether small or big and stay focused; no matter what kind of business they have, it will always pay off.”
As the saying goes, ‘work without play makes Jack a dull boy’ regardless of Nkunda’s busy schedule, he finds time to socialize and the Kigali Golf Club is his best hangout. When asked how he handles women who ‘hit on him’ because of his status, he responded:
"I am married and I think the ring scares them away. My social life does not encourage such advances since golf is considered a boring game for oldies.”
Considering the current status and generation on the subject of what comes first in a relationship; love or money, the successful lawyer has a different perspective on the issue.
"Love is what is most important. If I’m to settle down with someone it would be because of love rather than their wealth,” Nkunda said.
