WITH just under a month to this year’s national rugby league kick-off, Sharks are organising a one-day 10-aside tournament for the elite sides.

Sharks president Janvier Ugeziwe noted that the objective is to put the players in the right shape ahead of the demanding league.

He also disclosed to Times Sport that the event scheduled for May 8 would also be used as a barometer by the Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) development manager Jean Luc Barthez to evaluate the sport as Rwanda continues her hunt to become a full member of the International Rugby Board (IRB).

Rwanda is currently an affiliate member of the IRB.

The league kicks off May 22 with ten teams in contest; reigning champions Buffaloes, Lion de Fer, UNR Grizzlies, Sharks, Simba, Puma, Gorillas, ISAE, Kaduha Tigers and Marines.
