The National Electoral Commission on Wednesday held a sensitization exercise of the forthcoming presidential elections with the Commuter Taxi Association, Atraco.

The commission called on the association to fully participate in the elections.

Addressing over 100 members at Kimisagara Youth Centre, Nyarugenge District Electoral Commissioner; Jean Bosco Rutikanga, said the association has the capacity to mobilize the masses and its members to take part in the elections.

"As Atraco, you meet many people during your day-to-day activities. So you have the ability to update and sensitize the population on their responsibilities in the presidential elections,” Rutikanga noted.

He explained that making sure people register to take part in elections is every citizen’s right as it determines the future of the country.

Addressing the meeting, Atraco president, Col (Rtd) Ludovic Twahirwa, promised the commission that his association will use everything in its powers to sensitize the public.

"We shall also work with authorities to sensitize the public about their responsibilities in the forthcoming presidential elections,” Twahirwa promised.
