Intare FC forward Rene Uwineza continues to attract attention of several European clubs including German second tier side Hannover 96.

Uwineza, 18, enjoyed a major breakthrough during his loan spell at Kiyovu SC last season and is highly admired by many club Hannover 96

Sources close to the player indicate that Hannover 96, are leading the race for his signature with an official invitation already sent to Intare FC for the youngster to undergo a short-term trial in mid-July.

Should he impress, the German outfit is expected to offer him a five-year contract.

Although Hannover 96 are seen as front runners for the transfer, reports suggest that five other European clubs are also closely monitoring the player’s progress.

Founded in 1896, Hannover 96 is one of Germany’s top clubs. The club plays its home matches at the Heinz von Heiden Arena, which has a capacity of over 49,000 spectators.

The club has spent significant time in the Bundesliga and is currently competing in the 2. Bundesliga, with ambitions of returning to the topflight.

Before European interest intensified, Uwineza had been a transfer target for APR FC.

Talks between the two parties reportedly took place on three occasions but failed to produce an agreement, with sources indicating that the player initially requested a signing fee of Rwf 82 million.

Uwineza starred for Kiyovu during the 2025/26 season and is on the shortlist for the BK Pro League Young Player of the Year award.

Barring any last-minute changes, the striker is expected to travel to Germany in early July for his trial with Hannover 96—a move that could mark a significant step toward launching his professional career in Europe.
