Rwandan-Belgian attacking midfielder Aaron Murenzi has completed a move to Spanish LaLiga side Levante UD, on a three-year contract with an option for a further season.
Levante confirmed the signing of the 18-year-old in an official statement on Thursday, marking a new chapter in Murenzi’s young career after three years with Belgian outfit KRC Genk.
Murenzi developed through Genk’s youth system, featuring for both the U19 and U23 sides after joining the Limburg-based club from RSC Anderlecht in July 2023.
Despite his technical ability and versatility in attack, he did not break into Genk’s senior team before the expiry of his contract.
During the 2025/2026 season, the offensive midfielder made 19 appearances for Genk’s U18 team and scored six goals.
He also featured in four UEFA Youth League matches, where he found the net twice, and made three appearances in the Challenger Pro League, accumulating 39 minutes of senior football.
Born in 2008, Murenzi is a Belgian youth international and the nephew of Burnley midfielder Mike Trésor Ndayishimiye.
Levante confirmed that Murenzi will initially link up with the club’s reserve team as part of their long-term development plan.
"With the arrival of Aaron Murenzi, the Azulgrana reserve team adds youth, versatility and valuable international experience to its attacking options, while continuing to strengthen the club’s development structure at Orriols,” the club said.
