ONATRACOM accident claims two, others injured

NYAGATARE – Two people were reported killed and others injured after an ONATRACOM bus, they were traveling in lost control and veered off the road. The accident took place on the Byumba-Nyagatare road in Kiyombe sector on Sunday night.

NYAGATARE – Two people were reported killed and others injured after an ONATRACOM bus, they were traveling in lost control and veered off the road.

The accident took place on the Byumba-Nyagatare road in Kiyombe sector on Sunday night.

When The New Times visited the scene on Monday morning, Kiyombe sector residents and police were still rescuing passengers who had been trapped in the bus. 
Eye witnesses said that the bus lost control at a sharp corner. 

‘This corner is dangerous. The driver lost control as he attempted to negotiate it,’ one of the survivors of the accident said.

The injured, were rushed to the nearby Nyagatare Hospital, according to Police.

‘Those who sustained minor injuries have already been discharged,’ a traffic Police official at Nyagatare Police Post told The New Times on Monday. 

The deceased were identified as Esperance Mukankubana, 52, a resident of Mukama sector in Nyagatare district and Gloria Rugira Musabe, 13, a resident of Byumba sector in Gicumbi district.
