Christian Ishimwe has described his return to APR FC as a homecoming after completing a move from Police FC to the army side ahead of the 2026/27 season.

APR FC confirmed the signing of the Rwanda international on Tuesday, with the 27-year-old putting pen to paper on a two-year contract.

Ishimwe previously featured for APR between 2022 and 2024.

"I am very happy with this deal. It is a great show of trust from the management, and I am committed to delivering strong performances over the next two years,” Ishimwe said.

He added that he is focused on helping the team improve and achieve success on both domestic and continental fronts, including the CAF Champions League.

"Returning to APR FC means a lot to me. I am here to help the club move forward and win more trophies,” he said.

"The fans should expect total commitment. I will give everything to help the team succeed locally and internationally.”

The left-back becomes APR FC’s first confirmed signing of the 2026 transfer window, as the club signals early intent for the new campaign.

He is expected to strengthen APR’s defensive options as they target another BK Pro League title and improved performances in continental competitions.

Ishimwe will take over the left-back position, previously held by club captain Claude Niyomugabo, who is set to leave the club.
