CANAL+ has partnered with the French Institute (Francophone Cultural Center) to boost children’s education by creating a space where children can learn and relearn subjects including French, Science and Mathematics at the institute.

The new initiative is made possible by NATHAN+, a French educational channel available on CH80 On CANAL+.

Through the new partnership, children between 7 to 10 years of age will have access to more than 800 French, Science and Mathematics lessons provided by 12 teachers on NATHAN+, in addition to being able to access books that will be provided at the French Institute’s library, as a way of encouraging them to read and learn.

Speaking to the media about the new initiative, the Managing Director CANAL+, Rwanda Sophie Tchatchoua, said it is part of CANAL+’s ambitions of promoting education through the NATHAN+ channel.

"For us it is very important. It is part of the CSR policy of the CANAL+ group called CANAL+ Impact. The idea of CANAL+ Impact is really to strengthen the knowledge of the population to give them the ability to grow,” she noted.

Also as part of the initiative, every first Saturday of the month, there will be a book lecture held at the French Institute, sponsored by CANAL+ and NATHAN books.

This year, more than 40,000 people visited the French Institute.

In addition, up to 300 children are registered for the institute’s library, and Tchatchoua hopes that the new initiative will bring more children to the library to learn and develop a culture of loving to read.
