As clubs strengthen their squads ahead of the 2026/27 season, transfer activity across the Rwanda Premier League has intensified.
While several players have secured new deals, a number of high-profile names remain available after their contracts expired, making them some of the most attractive options on the market.
Times Sports looks at five standout free agents attracting interest from both local clubs.
1. Olivier Kwizera
Goalkeeper Olivier Kwizera is among the players that may be an option for various clubs after the expiry of his contract with Rayon Sports.
The club is understood to be in talks to retain him, but negotiations remain unresolved, with the experienced shot-stopper reportedly holding offers from abroad. Rayon are also said to be exploring alternative options due to concerns over wage demands and age.
Kwizera previously played for APR FC, Gasogi United and Saudi Arabian side Al-Kawkab before rejoining Rayon Sports in early 2026 on a short-term deal. His performances have also kept him in Amavubi coach Stephen Constantine's plans.
2. Clément Niyigena
APR FC defender Clément Niyigena remains without a contract despite the club's efforts to extend his stay.
The centre-back is reportedly considering offers from outside Rwanda and previously turned down a move to Al Hilal SC. Widely regarded as one of the league's most dependable defenders, Niyigena's experience and leadership continue to make him a highly valued target.
3. Henry Msanga
Burundian midfielder Henry Msanga is another player attracting significant interest following his departure from Police FC.
The defensive midfielder impressed during his two seasons at the club with his composure, tactical discipline and ball-winning ability. Rayon Sports are reportedly among the clubs pursuing his signature.
4. Bosco Ruboneka
Bosco Ruboneka is available after the end of his contract with APR FC.
Although APR are keen to keep him, the midfielder has yet to agree to a new deal amid interest from clubs including Sudan's Al Merrikh SC. Renowned for his creativity and ability to dictate play, Ruboneka remains one of Rwanda's top midfielders.
5. Emery Bayisenge
Veteran defender Emery Bayisenge completes the list after his contract with Rayon Sports expired.
Bayisenge played a key role in Rayon Sports' second-place finish last season, providing experience and leadership in defence. His career has included spells at Amagaju FC, Isonga FC, APR FC, Morocco's KAC Kénitra and JS Massira, and Algeria's USM Alger.
His experience and defensive qualities can make him an attractive option for clubs seeking stability at the back.
