Veteran sports journalist, broadcaster and sports administrator Fidéle Kajugiro Sebalinda passed away on Saturday, June 13.

Kajugiro was among Rwanda’s most experienced sports journalists, with a career spanning about three decades. He was widely known for his work at Radio Rwanda, where he earned a reputation for his insightful sports reporting.

He covered football, volleyball, basketball and other disciplines.

Before joining journalism, Kajugiro played volleyball at Petit Séminaire de Butare during the 1985-1986 season.

Beyond journalism, Kajugiro served as Director of Sports Development at the Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSR), where he worked with federations and institutions to support athlete development and strengthen sports structures.

He remained active in sports communication throughout his career and mentored many young journalists.
