RWANDA’S speedster Davite Giancarlo has entered the KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda rally as he seeks to close the gap on reigning African champions and 2010 Africa Rally Championship leader Jamie Whyte from Zimbabwe.

Giancarlo trails Whyte by 21 points on the ARC but believes that a win in Uganda will bring him right back in contention.
"I am looking forward to the Uganda rally because I know that I still have a good opportunity to close in on Whyte,” he said.

In the opening two rounds of the ARC; Kobil Rally of Tanzania and KCB Safari rally, Giancarlo played second fiddle to the Zimbabwean which explains why there is a 21-point gap between the two drivers.

Whyte scored maximum points in the two races and will fancy himself in Uganda after winning the race back in 2008.

The Pearl of Africa rally, which counts as a third tier on the ARC and second round on the KCB East Africa Rally Challenge is slated for April 30- May 2.

The race will start with a super special stage at Lubiri.
