Nearly Rwf1bn raised in Dusangire Lunch campaign

The Dusangire Lunch campaign to support Rwanda’s national school feeding programme has mobilised nearly Rwf1 billion over the past two years, according to the Ministry of Education.

The campaign has drawn contributions from financial institutions, businesses, and ordinary citizens and members of the Rwandan community abroad.

Data released by the ministry on Friday, June 12, show that the campaign has collected Rwf976.7 million in contributions since June 2024. So far, Rwf205.9 million has been disbursed to schools, while Rwf658.9 million remains available in campaign accounts.

With a combined contribution of Rwf377 million, financial institutions emerged as the largest contributors.

Rwandan communities living abroad also contributed Rwf153.6 million to the campaign.

Individual donors contributed a total of Rwf92.2 million through various channels, including mobile money, bank transfers and remittances.

Corporate entities donated Rwf81.9 million. Other donations came from companies and organizations, whose contributions reached Rwf19 million.
