THE president and technical director of the National Paralympic Committee of Rwanda have been elected on the executive committee of the African Development task force, a body that is charged with the development of sports for the disabled.

NPC president Dominique Bizimana has been elected Vice President while Eric Karasira will serve as the body’s competitions manager.

Last year, the pair was also elected president and technical director on the East African Paralympic Committee and Bizimana thinks that the increasing popularity of sports for the disabled in the country is behind their new appointments.

"Sports for the disabled in the country has made a lot of progress in the last couple of years, with the national team taking part in all major international competitions including the world sitting volleyball World Cup.”

"Being the architectures behind this development, it is not a surprise that we have been entrusted with these responsibilities.”Bizimana said.
