Rwanda sends condolence message to Poland

KIGALI - The Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minaffet) has sent a message of condolences to the government and people of Poland over the tragic accident that claimed lives of the top leadership of the European country.

KIGALI - The Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minaffet) has sent a message of condolences to the government and people of Poland over the tragic accident that claimed lives of the top leadership of the European country.

This is in the wake of the April 10 plane crash that killed Polish President Lech Kaczynski, his wife, top military brass and scores of political figures, after their plane crashed in thick fog in western Russia.

"The government of the Republic of Rwanda has learned with great shock of the death of his Excellency Lech Kaczynski, President of the Republic of Poland, the first lady Mrs. Maria Kaczynski as well as many high ranking Polish officials following a tragic plane accident,” reads part of the government message.

"The Government and the people of the Republic of Rwanda wish to express heartfelt condolences to the Government and the people of the Republic of Poland and to assure them of their solidarity in this moment of great sadness.”
"May the almighty god rest the souls of the departed in eternal peace”.

All on board – a total 96 people, died and leaders worldwide have sent their condolences to the Polish people.

The Polish delegation was en route to commemorate the 1940 Katyn Massacre in which Soviet security forces executed 22,000 Polish officers.
