On Sunday April 11, I took a Yahoo Rwanda Registered bus from Bujumbura to Kigali. When we got to Nyanza around 11am the driver parked the bus and he, the conductor and a few passengers got off.

Initially I did not think anything of this mass exodus until we had been parked for over half an hour.

A lady and I exchanged puzzled looks as to what may be holding us up. Noticing we were confused a young mother carrying a baby told me the driver has gone to eat, we just have to wait.

Indeed a few minutes later out he walked with the other passengers digging into their teeth with tooth picks oblivious of any inconvenience they may have caused.

One or two had a quick cigarette and then we were off arriving in Kigali at 1pm not a long journey, actually quite comfortable but very annoying and disappointing.

The bus company should announce to the passengers whenever there is a reason to stop.
