LISA'S ADVENTURES : Unity is the beginning of all

"United we stand, divided we fall,” read the words at the entrance of Lisa’s school. They were well written in red ink and block letters. Though she read the words every time she passed, Lisa had never understood the meaning of the red lettered poster.

She had never stopped wondering why of all words the Headmaster had chosen those ones!

"Besides from not being interesting, to me the words are irrelevant,” said Lisa.

When the inevitable happened, Lisa got to know that the words at the entrance of her school actually carried great meaning than anything she had ever heard.

It was bitter at home, mum was packing her bags while Lisa’s dad was so disappointed.

Seated in the chairs, Lisa’s dad kept assuring her mom of how mean she was.

"How could you fail to be on good terms with my relatives? Much as they try to live in harmony with you, you refuse,” he kept said.

According to Lisa’s dad, mum would be a better woman if she knew the meaning of togetherness and team work. For all their 15 years of marriage, Lisa’s dad had been fighting a war of making her mum more social.

"That’s why she never lets you visit your relatives,” he explained to his daughter.

Though Lisa had not seen it coming,  she blamed her mum for not being friendly even to the neighbours. She kept feeding her daughters with words like, "… they are bad people, never talk to them!”

Lisa recalled a time when their house was almost on fire and their neighbours came to their rescue.
"Well mum, I love you but I dislike your personality,” Lisa told her mother.

Lisa started sobbing. She saw a clear picture of why her mum and dad were never at peace.

"Unity is the source of happiness. And truly, united we stand and divided we fall,” the words rang in Lisa’s mind.
Lisa and her sister came to a conclusion that all good things come when people are united and are there for each other.

"Take an example of our school’s football team. They can never succeed if the goal keeper or a single player is missing,” said Lisa’s sister.

The two little girls teamed up on uniting their dad and mum who eventually reconciled and they were a happy family once again.
