Police spokesperson, Eric Kayiranga, yesterday said that in collaboration with other security agencies, local leaders and survivors’ associations, they have set up plans to ensure security of survivors who are mostly targeted during this week.

Police spokesperson, Eric Kayiranga, yesterday said that in collaboration with other security agencies, local leaders and survivors’ associations, they have set up plans to ensure security of survivors who are mostly targeted during this week.
"Survivors, eye witnesses and Rwandans in general, should be assured that their security is guaranteed, be it during the Genocide commemoration week or other days,” Kayiranga said.
He revealed that they have mapped out Genocide survivors most at risk and have created a trauma counselling centre at the police hospital.
"We are closely monitoring the Genocide Memorial Sites where mourners meet during this period and are sometimes targeted. We have also partnered with local leaders through community policing to ensure maximum security.”
He called on everyone to report all those who would want to cause insecurity to the nearest authorities or call police toll free lines - 3512, 3511 and 112.
"This will help us apprehend those who want to destabilize peace in the country,” Kayiranga said.
