English Premier League champions Arsenal will face French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday at 78,000-seater Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary.
Having finally ended their 22-year wait for a Premier League title, Arsenal are back on Europe’s biggest stage for the first time in two decades. The Gunners last reached the Champions League final in 2006, when they were beaten by FC Barcelona.
Despite their domestic success over the years, Arsenal have never won the Champions League. That long-standing ambition is now within reach as manager Mikel Arteta and his players seek to make history.
For Arsenal, victory would represent more than just continental glory. It would also cap a remarkable season for English clubs in European competitions, following triumphs by Crystal Palace in the UEFA Conference League and Aston Villa in the Europa League.
PSG, meanwhile, will be aiming to defend the title they won last season after a dominant 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the final. The French champions will once again rely on the brilliance of forward Ousmane Dembele, whose outstanding performances have strengthened his case for major individual honours, including the Ballon d'Or.
The final also carries special significance for Rwanda, with both Arsenal and PSG serving as partners of the country's tourism promotion campaign, Visit Rwanda.
But who will come out on top? Times Sport spoke to football fans across Kigali ahead of the highly anticipated showdown.
Jean Damascene Manirakiza, Arsenal fan
"Arsenal are going to win 2-1, with goals from Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.
"We comfortably won the Premier League title, and I believe there is even more to celebrate. Winning the Champions League would be historic because it would be our first.”
Melissa Niyigena, PSG fan
"I want this trophy to be ours. Winning the Champions League again would be another special moment for the club, and I believe Ousmane Dembele can strengthen his Ballon d'Or credentials with a big performance.”
Fabrice Niyomungeri, East Africa University Rwanda student
"PSG are very strong going forward, but Arsenal have also shown great quality throughout the season. It will be a difficult match, but I believe Declan Rice can have a huge impact for Arsenal.”
Philbert Ndandari, tourism entrepreneur--Visit Rwanda wins
As fans, we always hope our team wins, but this match is also important for Rwanda. Millions of viewers around the world will see the Visit Rwanda brand associated with both clubs. That visibility can help attract more tourists, generate foreign exchange and create opportunities for Rwandans.
