MINISANTE, please pay us

Editor, I am a medical doctor working with a district hospital in a very remote area here in Rwanda. I am one of those medical doctors sent by the ministry of health to serve in district hospitals due to shortage of doctors in these village health facilities. The ministry on its part had a mandate of paying salaries as usual and also providing us with a monthly housing allowance of 25,000 (twenty five thousand) francs only.

Editor,

I am a medical doctor working with a district hospital in a very remote area here in Rwanda.

It is very unfortunate that we have not received this allowance from June 2009 to date; and I guess the person in charge of processing this money is getting paid every month for the work not done.

I really don’t understand why this should be happening when we actually earn meagre salaries. How then shall we survive in these villages?

I kindly ask the minister in charge to visit this very office in his ministry and see what he can do to clean up this mess. Thank you.
