Comedian Babu Joe set for Dar fest

Renowned Rwandan comedian John Muyenzi, popularly known as Babu Joe.

Renowned Rwandan comedian John Muyenzi, popularly known as Babu Joe, is set to perform at the 2026 Punchline International Comedy Festival in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Organised by Punchline Africa, the week-long festival will run from May 25 to 30 and bring together comedians and creatives from across the continent.

Babu Joe will share the stage with a diverse lineup of African comedians, including Tanzania’s Leonardo, Deo Gratius, Ahmed Dahal and Evans Bukuku, Uganda’s Okello Okello, Ghana’s Kojo Pjay, Kenya’s Arnold Saviour, and South Africa’s Thenjiwe.

The festival will feature a blend of live performances, media engagements and cultural exchange activities, with celebrations expected to culminate in a grand finale at the Superdome.

Performances will be staged in both English and Swahili, reflecting the festival’s multicultural appeal.

Babu Joe has established himself as one of the regular comedy acts at Thank God It’s Funny, a bi-monthly comedy platform that primarily targets English-speaking audiences while also embracing performances in Kinyarwanda, Swahili and French.
