Hagenimana returns

BY JULIUS MBARAGAThe country’s number one tennis player Eric Hagenimana returns in the country next week ahead of the All Africa Games competition that runs from July 11-23 in the Algerian capital, Algiers.According to the Rwanda Tennis Federation technical director Thierry Ntwali, the 22-year-old who has been under-going a series of tennis clinics in the US will jet into the country next Thursday. "He has confirmed to us [tennis federation] that he will be arriving in the country next Thursday,” Ntwali said.Meanwhile, Rwanda’s number two seed Jean Claude Gasigwa also returned recently from Paris, France after a six-week build-up ahead of the Algeria event.According to Ntwali, the duo is expected to have further local build-up sessions before heading to Algeria."We believe that the two have gained a lot from the different clinics they have been involved in and we hope to keep them in fine form with a number of build-up sessions before they finally head to Algeria,” he noted.In addition to Hagenimana and Gasigwa, Belgian based female starlet Aude Wanden Mwali is the other Rwandan who has been enlisted on the national tennis team for continent’s biggest sports bonanza.
