Biblically, Easter is the climax and centre of the liturgical year, and the sacred day to which all other holy days point. The day is associated with feasts, and drinks at family gatherings. Easter ‘s a day away and this is what some Rwandans had to say about this sacred day.

"I hope to join a few friends and my family for a feast. But like any other devoted Christian, I’ll go to Church in the morning at Omega.”

Marie Josephine Muheyimbundu, Student at School of Finance and Banking (SFB).

"I intend to celebrate Easter at home with my family. I will go to Church in the morning, and then return home to feast.”

"I’m so excited about Easter, because it is the most festive holiday in the Christian calendar. My wish for Easter is for Jesus Christ to renew my life and guide me into the kingdom of God. However, I’m not yet certain where I’ll celebrate it from, whether at home or somewhere with my pals.”

"Wow! It’s going to be my first Easter in Rwanda, and I guess it will be fun. I intend to visit Christian Life Assembly (CLA) on Friday because there will be special events for Easter, and probably party on Saturday with my friends.”

"I will celebrate Easter with my son. I promised to take him to Bambino Sun City to play games at the park and I’m looking forward to it.”

"I intend to be with my family. But if all goes well, I will cross over to Burundi to visit my best friend, who is based there. To me, Easter is nothing but so special, because it reminds me about the resurrection of Jesus Christ and his mission to earth, which was to save human kind from the captivity of their sins.”

"Easter will find me in Zion Temple. I’m a Christian and I have to go to Church every Sunday—whether it is Easter or not. I did not have any special big plans for Easter, but if anyone invites me, I’ll be delighted.”

Diogène Ntarindwa, a.k.a, Atome, a Rwandan stand-up comedian.

"Easter is a special day, and I’m set to celebrate it. I’ll attend the morning Church services, and return home to feast. It will be more of a social gathering at home, as some of our relatives will come to celebrate Easter. I wish my friends could join me at home in Kicukiro for the celebration.”
