The district’s vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs, Anita Mutesi, launched the operations of Nyamirama Umurenge SACCO on Wednesday.

"The opening of this Sacco shows how you, the residents of this sector have matured in social, political and economic matters,” she said.

Eric Nyirigira, the Sacco’s Manager, said the society has the necessary systems and man power for effective operations.

He added that the institution is slowly, but steadily attracting members since joining requires only Rwf 1000.

The Nyamirama Sector Executive Secretary, Andrew Twamugabo, said they would sensitise people to save and access loans through the Sacco.

"We mobilised over Rwf 10m before we were cleared to start operations. Each share sold went for Rwf 4000 and many people bought them…the society will help people to develop themselves,” he said.
