SC Kiyovu came from behind to beat traditional rivals Rayon Sport 3-2 in a thrilling Primus National League match played yesterday at Regional stadium, Nyamirambo.

The clash between the country’s two oldest club lived up to it’s pre-match hype but it was Rayon who took an early lead through former Kiyovu striker Theoneste Muhayimana after just four minutes, and eight minutes it was 2-0 for the Blues, this time Amauvi Stars young midfielder Jamal Mwiseneza on target.

Burundian born winger Fuadi Ndayisenga got one back for Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s side on the 32nd minute.

Ntagwabira’s half time talk made the difference, and ten minutes into the second half, Kiyovu were back on level terms through Pappy Nkunda before former Etincelles and APR striker Eric Serugaba struck the winner in the 73rd minute.

The win takes the Green and White outfit to within a point of their rivals, who have played a game more.

Elsewhere yesterday, the 2007 league winners, Atraco closed the gap on rivals and league leaders APR to two points after their 2-1 win over Amagaju

APR’s game with Etincelles, which had been scheduled for today was postponed as the champions continue their preparation for the return leg against DR Congo’s TP Mazembe in the Orange Africa Champions League.

Daddy Birori and Ismail Habumugisha scored goals for Sam Timbe’s side while Pablo Nduwimana scored the consolation for relegation battling Amagaju in Nyamagabe.

Victory took the taxi-men side into second place, above Etincelles.Electrogaz whipped visitors Marines 5-1 at Kicukiro artificial turf.

In today’s only match, AS Kigali takes on Police at Nyamirambo stadium. AS Kigali are on tenth position with 14 points while Police are sixth. However, Police will miss their lead striker Roger Tchouassi, who is suspended.
