Rayon Sports Vs Gorilla FC — Kigali Pele Stadium, 6:30 PM
AS Kigali Vs Gicumbi FC — Kigali Pele Stadium, 3:00 PM
Three days after eliminating Gorilla FC from the Peace Cup semifinals, Rayon Sports will once again face the same opponents on Friday evening in a crucial BK Pro League clash at Kigali Pele Stadium.
The Blues will be aiming to strengthen their chances of finishing as the second-best ranked local side, with their hopes of securing a CAF Champions League place now hanging by a thread.
Rayon Sports suffered a major setback in the title race after dropping points against AS Muhanga, leaving them with little room for error in the final stretch of the season. The club must now win all three of their remaining matches to at least secure qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
After the Gorilla FC encounter, Rayon will conclude the campaign against Bugesera FC and arch-rivals SC Kiyovu, who currently sit fifth on the table.
"We must approach this game differently. We have analysed the way Gorilla play, and we need to approach the match well and take all three points,” Rayon Sports head coach Francis Haringingo said.
Rayon Sports are currently fourth on the table with 51 points, eight behind APR FC, who will host struggling Rutsiro FC on Sunday. A single point from APR’s remaining matches would be enough to secure the honour of finishing as the best-ranked local side.
Meanwhile, Gorilla FC head into the game seeking revenge after their dramatic Peace Cup semifinal exit on the away goals rule.
The side currently sit 11th on the table with 36 points, nine clear of second-from-bottom AS Muhanga, and remain focused on securing their top-flight status. Head coach Alain Kirasa remains confident ahead of the clash against his former club.
"We need the three points because you can never say you are completely safe from relegation. We want at least six points from the remaining three games, so we must start with Rayon Sports,” Kirasa said.
AS Kigali face Gicumbi FC in relegation battle
Elsewhere, AS Kigali will take on Gicumbi FC in another high-stakes fixture involving two sides still battling to avoid relegation.
Gicumbi are 13th on the table with 35 points, while AS Kigali sit 15th with 29 points, just two points above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Al Hilal SC have already been crowned league champions with three matches remaining. The Sudanese giants received the honorary trophy after sealing the title with a 2-1 victory over Gasogi United on Wednesday at Kigali Pele Stadium.
