Editor,
I would like to commend the authorities of Rwanda and Tanzania for actualizing the dream of a united East Africa through concrete measures.

Yesterday, Rwanda and Tanzania signed a bilateral agreement that will establish and implement a joint one-stop border point and simplified trade regime at Rusumo border, Eastern Province.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 20th Meeting of the East African Community (EAC) Council of Ministers that was taking place in Arusha, Tanzania.

Initiatives like this show East African citizens that the East African Community isn’t simply a paper tiger but rather an entity that will make  the lives of East Africans better, especially for business persons.

This is noteworthy because it is coming right on the heels on the border reforms at Gatuna where the border will be open 24 hours a day.
