Rayon Sports beat Marines to keep pressure on APR
Sunday, May 10, 2026

Rayon Sports reduced the gap on league leaders APR FC to four points after a 2-1 victory over Marine FC at Kigali Pele Stadium on Saturday night.

Latif Bishira’s goal and a brilliant finish from Asman Ndikumana powered the Blues to fourth place with 51 points. The victory also marked a strong response from Rayon Sports following their 1-0 defeat to AS Muhanga in the previous match. Despite the win narrowing the gap, APR FC still need only four points from their remaining four games to clinch the league title.

Rayon opened the scoring in the 33rd minute after Didier Mugisha powered past Marine FC defenders and fired in a shot that was redirected into the net by Bishira.

Ndikumana doubled Rayon Sports’ lead five minutes before halftime after receiving a pass from Abedi Bigirimana. He drove through the defense from midfield before beating goalkeeper Clovis Sugira Ruhumuriza with a composed finish.

Moise Nyarugabo pulled one back for Marine FC in the 70th minute, dribbling past defenders before beating goalkeeper Olivier Kwizera, but Rayon held on to win the match.

The win put APR’s title celebrations on hold even if they beat AS Kigali when the pair face off at Kigali Pele Stadium on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Mukura VS defeated Gorilla FC 2-1 to climb to seventh place with 45 points, while Gorilla FC stayed 11th with 36 points.

Gicumbi FC also earned a 2-1 win over Bugesera FC, moving up to 12th place with 35 points. Bugesera FC remain ninth with 40 points.

League action continues on Sunday as APR FC face AS Kigali, AS Muhanga take on Al Hilal SC, Rutsiro FC host Amagaju FC, Gasogi United play Etincelles FC, while Al Merrikh SC face SC Kiyovu.
