Delhi Games village to be ready by Sept

THE Delhi Commonwealth Games village will be ready at least two weeks before the competitions; this is according to the Games Chief Executive Officer Mike Hooper. “The village is undergoing final constructions. Much of the work has been done and it should be ready a few weeks before the Games kick off.”

THE Delhi Commonwealth Games village will be ready at least two weeks before the competitions; this is according to the Games Chief Executive Officer Mike Hooper.

"The village is undergoing final constructions. Much of the work has been done and it should be ready a few weeks before the Games kick off.”

The Delhi Development Authority- a delivery partner of the Games is in charge of developing the state-of-the-art Village, which is expected to cost $230.7m.

On top of the residential zone which will accommodate over 8,000 athletes and officials, the 63.5hectare facility is also equipped with training facilities for athletes (400 m eight-lane synthetic track and separate area for Throwing Events), swimmers (50x25m, kids and leisure pool), weightlifting, wrestling and a fitness center.

The Games are slated for October 3-14.
