The building currently hosts Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA), Rwanda Housing Authority (RHA), Rwanda Mines, Oil and Petroleum Board (RMB), among others.

During this period, RDB, its subsidiaries, and hosted institutions will relocate to new premises, says the announcement released by RDB on May 4.

"The locations of the new premises and related service arrangements will be communicated in due course,” reads part of the announcement.

Until the new premises are ready, One Stop Centre services are available on the ground floor of the Ministry of Infrastructure (Kimihurura, KG 1 Roundabout, Kigali).

"Other services will continue through RDB’s existing digital platforms. Our customer care teams will continue to operate as usual and are readily available to guide and support you throughout this transition,” the announcement adds.

Sources indicate that on April 17, 2026, a meeting was held to discuss the report on the structural assessment of the new RDB building.

Participants agreed that the building must be vacated due to serious safety and compliance issues identified in the report, which indicate that it is no longer suitable for occupancy or use at this time.

In line with the mandate of the Ministry of Infrastructure (MININFRA) to promote infrastructure standards and ensure the safety of public buildings, the RDB building requires urgent renovation and structural reinforcement.

To facilitate these critical works and ensure the safety of all staff, it is necessary that the building be temporarily vacated.
