Rayon Sports and APR FC played out a 1–1 draw in a highly anticipated BK Pro League Matchday 29 clash at Amahoro Stadium on Saturday.

The fiercely contested Kigali derby lived up to expectations, with both sides showing intensity and urgency throughout the match.

Rayon Sports took the lead in the 32nd minute through Asman Ndikumana, who finished off a well-worked move to put his side ahead. However, APR responded before halftime when Cheikh Djibril Ouattara calmly converted a penalty in the 42nd minute, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to level the score.

Played under immense pressure, the derby featured relentless attacking from both teams, with neither side willing to concede ground. As is often the case in this historic rivalry, the match remained physical and competitive until the final whistle.

Rayon Sports now sit fourth with 48 points, eight behind second-placed APR FC, who have accumulated 58 points from 28 matches and remain firmly in the title race.

The blue-and-white side’s last win against APR FC came in the Super Cup in August 2024 in Nyamirambo, where they secured a 3–0 victory. Their most recent league win over APR at Amahoro dates back to April 2019.
