Police FC forward Alain ‘Bacca’ Kwitonda believes the club can still secure a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup despite an inconsistent 2025/26 campaign.
Police will host Gorilla FC on Friday, May 1, at Kigali Pelé Stadium, aiming to close the gap on the leading pack.
Currently fifth with 44 points, Police FC trail Rayon Sports (47), Al Merrikh (52), APR FC (55), and leaders Al Hilal (61).
"We are not satisfied with our current position. As a team that was leading earlier in the season, we have to keep winning, close the gap on the top teams, and prepare well for the remaining matches,” Kwitonda said after a 2-0 win over Marines FC in late April.
He added that they have a target of securing at least a second-place finish and keep hopes of continental qualification alive. He explained that if the team that wins the league also lifts the Peace Cup, the CAF Confederation Cup slot could go to the second-placed team, offering Police FC a pathway.
