All 14 people aboard a light aircraft were killed when it crashed in South Sudan on Monday, April 27, according to the country’s civil aviation authority (SSCAA).

Authorities have dispatched investigators to the scene, with early indications pointing to poor weather, especially low visibility, as a possible cause of the accident, the SSCAA said in a statement.

The aircraft came down roughly 20km southwest of the capital, Juba, on Monday morning.

It had departed Yei at 09:15 local time (07:15 GMT), but contact was lost about half an hour into the flight as it headed toward the capital.

Those on board included a pilot and 13 passengers. Twelve of the victims were South Sudanese, while two were Kenyan nationals.
