Amagaju 0-2 Rayon Sports

Rayon Sports secured a 2-0 victory over struggling Amagaju FC at Kamena Stadium in Huye on Sunday, to keep pressure on APR FC before the two fierce rivals lock horns in the derby on May 2.

Goals from Gloire Tambwe and Youssou Diagne in either half sealed the win for the Blues who now sit fourth on the table with 47 points, 14 points behind league leaders Al Hilal SC and eight behind APR.

The result also marked Francis Haringingo’s first league victory since officially taking charge of Rayon Sports a week ago.

Tambwe opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, heading in a cross from Emmanuel ‘Kabange’ Nshimiyimana. Diagne doubled the lead in the 75th minute with another header, again assisted by Nshimiyimana.

Rayon can restore their title hopes if they beat APR FC ahead of their highly anticipated encounter at Amahoro Stadium on Saturday.

Amagaju FC, meanwhile, stay 15th with 27 points, five points clear of the relegation zone.

Elsewhere, Gilles Razafimaro scored a hat-trick as Al Merrikh cruised to a 3-0 victory over Bugesera FC.

The Madagascan forward found the net in the 40th, 52nd, and 87th minutes to not only carry his side to the win but also return to the race for the golden boot.

The win lifts Al Merrikh to third place with 52 points, with one game in hand.

Elsewhere, SC Kiyovu and Etincelles FC played out a goalless draw.
