Nigerian star artiste Peter Okoye of the defunct P-Square, popularly known as Mr P, has sparked fresh reactions after announcing a change to the date he celebrates his birthday.
In a post shared on his social media platforms, the singer stated that November 18 will no longer be recognised as his birthday celebration date.
"I am officially changing my birthday date,” Mr P said.
"I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day.”
"My birthday will now be celebrated on November 30th. This is a personal decision, and I truly appreciate your understanding.”
The singer did not explain the reason behind the decision, but the move comes against the backdrop of his long-running rift with his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
Both brothers rose to fame as P-Square, a duo that dominated the African music scene for years with hit songs and sold-out shows.
Their relationship began to break down around 2015, driven by disputes over management, finances and the involvement of their elder brother, Jude Okoye.
The group split in 2017, with both artistes pursuing solo careers before a reunion in 2021 that excited fans across the continent.
However, reports of lingering disagreements later surfaced, particularly around royalties and business control, keeping tensions in the public eye.
Mr P’s latest announcement has now added to the conversation, with many fans linking the decision to the unresolved issues within the family.
