Prosecutors have requested a two-year prison sentence and a fine of Rwf 1 million for Arnaud Shema De Bosscher, popularly known as DJ Toxxyk, who is facing charges related to a fatal road accident in which a policeman was killed last year.
The request was made before Nyarugenge Primary Court during a hearing held on April 20.
Shema faces multiple charges, including involuntary manslaughter, drug-related offences, and fleeing the scene of an accident.
The case stems from a fatal road accident that occurred in December last year, in which the accused allegedly struck and killed Police Constable Fred Mushabe, who was directing traffic along Sopetrade Road in Kigali.

Shema is currently on remand as the case unfolds in substance.
In the previous hearings, his lawyers had appealed the remand decision, arguing that the incident was accidental and lacked criminal intent.
They also challenged claims that the accused was intoxicated at the time, noting that he was tested three times for drug use but the results were never presented in court.
However, prosecutors maintain that CCTV footage suggests the accused was intoxicated. They further allege that he fled the scene after the accident, abandoning his vehicle near ONOMO Hotel before travelling to Gisozi and later to Karongi.
They argued that those actions indicate an attempt to evade responsibility. The prosecutors also claim that the accused initially admitted to drug use before later retracting his statement.
According to the prosecution, there are additional charges related to drugs allegedly found at the defendant’s residence during the investigation.
The court is expected to deliver its verdict on May 4.
