APR captain Patrick Mafisango, Kalisa Mao and Chimanga Mutamba have all been cleared to feature in Saturday’s Orange Champions League tie against TP Mazembe.

It is reported that the Congolese side had lodged an appeal to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over irregularities in the players’ transfers (International Transfer Certificates).

The Congolese side claimed that Mafisango who featured for them during the 2005 season under the name ‘Mafisango Tambe Ete’ is still their player and should not be allowed to feature in Saturday’s tie.

But APR retaliated by producing evidence to prove that Mafisango joined the army side after being issued an ITC by Mazembe on January 14. 2007.

Mao was then accused of using a different name after his move from DRC’s AS Vita. During his time at AS Vita, the versatile defender was known by the names of Kasongo Kabiana, the same names that appear on APR’s list for this year’s Orange Champions league campaign.

For Chimanga, he was accused of using a Rwandan service passport when APR played against Angola’s Recreativo do Libolo and yet he is a DRC citizen.

However, APR Secretary General Adolphe Kalisa told Times sport yesterday that there is no cause for alarm as everything has been sorted out with CAF.

"We have sorted things out with CAF so there is no need to worry. They will all play on Saturday.”

"In fact, I see this as a move by TP Mazembe to distract our players but it is not going to work.

Mazembe warmed up for Saturday’s tie with a 2-0 league win over CS Don Bosco. Zambia international Given Singuluma scored the goals.

Mazembe’s midfielder Alain Kaluyituka Dioko was also on mark as DRC opened their CHAN title defense on a positive note with a 2-1 win over Gabon in Libreville.

Other Mazembe players who made the DRC squad included Robert Kidiaba, Eric Nkulukuta, Joel Kimwaki, Mabele Bawakir, Pathou Kabangu, Pamphile Mihayo, Kasongo Ngandu, Guy Lusadisu, Hugues Bedi and Tresor Mputu. TP Mazembe jets in tomorrow.
