Once upon a time, there was a man and his wife, who had a daughter called Nyampinga.

Later on, her mother passed away and her father married another wife. Nyampinga’s step mother would make Nyampinga do a lot of work without resting. This always made her tired.

However, after some years Nyampinga had a sister called Bicaniro to play with. She was a very beautiful but very lazy girl. She left all the work for Nyampinga to do as she lazed around with her cruel mother.

One day, unhappy Nyampinga met the king’s son, Prince Nyamwiza. The prince fell in love with Nyampinga. He saw how beautiful she was behind all the rags she was wearing.
Prince Nyamwiza asked for her hand in marriage and she accepted. They went together to the palace where she met their king. The king was pleased to see a very beautiful hardworking girl. So he promised to make a big feast for his son’s marriage to Nyampinga.

Meanwhile, back in the village, Nyampiga’s father was so excited that his daughter was going to marry a prince. However, his wife who never liked Nyampinga decided to send a special message to the king’s son, begging him to change his mind and marry Bicaniro.

Prince Nyamwiza refused saying Bicaniro was so lazy and he only wanted to marry Nyampinga who was hardworking.
Shortly after, Nyampinga also became a happy princess and lived in the palace with the King, Queen, Princesses and all their workers.
