President Kagame on Wednesday, April 15, arrived at Maya-Maya International Airport in Brazzaville where he was received by Prime Minister Anatole Collinet Makosso of the Republic of Congo.

Kagame is in Brazzaville where he joins leaders from across the continent for Thursday's inauguration of President-elect Denis Sassou Nguesso, who won a five-year term in the March 5 elections. Also present in Brazzaville are Faustin Archange Touadera of Central African Republic, Oligui Nguema of Gabon and Assoumani Azali of Comoros.

The presidential inauguration ceremony will be held at Unity Stadium (La Concorde Multipurpose Sports Complex) in Kintélé.

On Wednesday evening Kagame met with Sassou-Nguesso for discussion that focused on bilateral relations,continental issues, and collaboration in key sectors to further enhance the existing ties.

Kagame last visited Congo in 2022. Sassou-Nguesso reciprocated the visit in July 2023, when Kagame awarded the Congolese leader with the National Order of Honour (Agaciro) medal for exceptional leadership and dedication to building a more stable and prosperous Africa.

Rwanda and the Republic of Congo enjoy a longstanding partnership and strong bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, security, agriculture and land management.
