District, investors celebrate RDB awards

KINIHIRA, RULINDO - SORWATHE and URWIBUTSO Enterprise, on Friday celebrated Gold and Bronze trophies which they were awarded by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and Private Sector Federation (PSF). Speaking at the ceremony held at Karegamazi stadium, in Kinihira, the Governor of the Northern Province, Aime Bosenibamwe, hailed Rulindo district authorities for their tireless effort in creating a business-friendly atmosphere in the district, which earned them Gold from RDB. “Rulindo district and their local investors such as SORWATHE and URWIBUTSO Enterprise have kept the name of province shining with glory,” Bosenibamwe said.  He called on other districts in the province to create conducive environments that promote the private sector.

KINIHIRA, RULINDO - SORWATHE and URWIBUTSO Enterprise, on Friday celebrated Gold and Bronze trophies which they were awarded by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and Private Sector Federation (PSF).

Speaking at the ceremony held at Karegamazi stadium, in Kinihira, the Governor of the Northern Province, Aime Bosenibamwe, hailed Rulindo district authorities for their tireless effort in creating a business-friendly atmosphere in the district, which earned them Gold from RDB.

"Rulindo district and their local investors such as SORWATHE and URWIBUTSO Enterprise have kept the name of province shining with glory,” Bosenibamwe said. 

He called on other districts in the province to create conducive environments that promote the private sector.
"Private sector-driven economy is part of government’s priority to attain Rwanda’s millennium goals,” he added.

RDB Principal Deputy CEO, George Mulamula said that SORWATHE tea growing and manufacturing Company won two Gold trophies in 2009, one issued by RDB and the other by PSF, for their exemplary innovativeness and the best investor out of 44 companies in the country. 

"SORWATHE is the best investor because it addresses residents’ social matters, in addition to manufacturing high quality tea for export,” he said.

Mulamula hailed URWIBUTSO Enterprise, belonging to local entrepreneur, Gerard Sina, saying the company, that produces fruit juice, plays a great role in providing employment to many locals.

"RDB will continue supporting URWIBUTSO Enterprise to even do better in the future,” he added. 
URWIBUTSO Enterprise was awarded Bronze for being the best 2009 exporter. 

Meanwhile, the founder and proprietor of SORWATHE, Joe Wertheim presented a Memorandum of Understanding to Rulindo Mayor, Justus Kangwge, in which the company pledged Rwf5m to finance Kinihira Youth Vocational Training Institute.  

SORWATHE Director General, J.C Alles said the company is committed to uplifting residents’ socio-economic welfare, through supporting their income generating activities and provision of education.

A total of 35 solar energy lamps were also donated to residents by SORWATHE management during the occasion.
