Tigo launches new promotional product

Tigo Rwanda has increased talking-time on the 300 airtime voucher card from three minutes to 30 minutes, targeting students and low income earners in a promotion that will last for a month.

As competition in Rwanda’s mobile telecom industry gets stiffer, the telecom firm says it will use the promotion to expand its services and coverage across the country.

"We are here to stay as investors and telecom service providers. We are here for the long-term,” Tigo’s Marketing Manager, Nina Claudia Ndabaneze, said yesterday at Kigali Health Institute (KHI) during the launch of the new promotion.

She added that to join tigo300, the customer has to type the word tigo and send to 7777.

Tigo also plans to launch the product in about seven universities with plans to extend its duration beyond one month.

Ndabaneze said that the service is only enjoyed by customers that make Tigo to Tigo calls. 

"We want to keep the element of surprise by making the service and products available, affordable and accessible to our customers,” she said. 

Tigo300 is the company’s third promotion since December last year.

Ndabaneze added that the company will also launch Tigo VIP which provides preferential rates to even other networks and helps control airtime budget.
