A landslide claimed the lives of three people in Rugerero Sector of Rubavu District following heavy rains on Wednesday, March 25.

Authorities said the incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. when a house wall collapsed, instantly killing the three people who were inside.

The victims were identified as Chantal Byukusenge, 33, her two-year-old daughter, and Jean Lambert Twizerimana, 30, who had come to visit the family.

Local authorities in Rugerero Sector confirmed that the bodies were retrieved from the debris and taken to Gisenyi Hospital.
