Biruta meets Congo’s Sassou-Nguesso to mobilise support for Mushikiwabo’s OIF candidacy

The Minister of Interior, Vincent Biruta, on Wednesday, March 25, delivered a message by President Paul Kagame to his Congo-Brazzaville counterpart Denis Sassou-Nguesso.

Besides Kagame's congratulatory message about the Congolese leader&039;s re-election victory, Biruta also conveyed a message about the candidacy of Louise Mushikiwabo for a third term at the helm of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).

Biruta's trip to Brazzaville is part of the Rwandan government's effort to mobilize support for Mushikiwabo, who has led the OIF since 2018.

Other ministers, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, have visited African capitals seeking the backing for Mushikiwabo's candidacy.
