Kabuguza, a first year student, emerged best after beating a stiff competition from seven other ladies. Poise, like many observers said, won her the title. The event was graced by; the Minister of Culture and Sports, Director of the Association of Women in Sports (AKWOS), SFB’s Acting Rector, lecturers, students from different Rwanda universities, and well-wishers.

The event was graced by; the Minister of Culture and Sports, Director of the Association of Women in Sports (AKWOS), SFB’s Acting Rector, lecturers, students from different Rwanda universities, and well-wishers.
Also in attendance were; Miss Rwanda, Miss East Africa, Miss National University of Rwanda, Miss Kigali Institute of Science Technology (KIST), and the out-going Miss SFB.
The panel of five judges was chaired by John Peter Higiro, the founder of Nyampinga Beauty Pageant in Rwandan universities.
The Minister of Culture and Sports, Joseph Habineza, also the guest of honour evoked that a "Miss” should have a beauty with purpose—carrying beauty, brilliance, discipline and confidence.
Each contestant was asked two questions, which were answered in either English or French.
Kabuguza, scored 76.6 percent, and pocketed Frw200, 000, a brand new Nokia phone (worth Rfw130, 000), and airtime of Rfw5000. Other prizes included; a six months package of cosmetics by Sulfo Rwanda, and hair treatment, courtesy of Hair and Fashion Saloon.
The 1st and 2nd runner-ups were also awarded Nokia mobile phones—together with other prizes from Sulfo Rwanda, and Fair and Fashion saloon.
After the crowning ceremony, contestants and guests proceeded to Pasadena for the after party.
The pageant was sponsored by; MTN, AKWOS, Simba Supermarket, Sulfo Rwanda, Inyange, Shokola, Design Internet, No Limit Sounds, Caisse Sociale du Rwanda, Hair and Fashion saloon, and various FM stations.
The crowd was thrilled by local artists who included performances from Paccy, Young Junior, K8, King James and The Brothers.
The pageant which started at 4:00 p.m was really amazing. The maestro singers sent the crowd screaming and asking for more gigs. The sound system was perfect, and the DJ was also great.
The event was also marked by a fundraising campaign to support needy children. Over Rwf1million was raised, and AKWOS pledged sports equipment worth Rwf3million.
