Ngoma tops Imihigo ranking as publication resumes

Ngoma District has been ranked the first district in Imihigo rankings for the 2024/2025 fiscal year, following a three-year gap in publications.

The results were announced on Monday, March 23, as central and local government officials convened in Bugesera for a consultative meeting.

Imihigo Performance Contracts rankings assess how districts have achieved their annual targets. The results, released by the National Institute of Statistics Rwanda (NISR), indicate that Eastern Province districts dominated the top places, with three of them in the top five.

Ngoma, with 77.2 per cent, was first, followed by Gisagara district at 76.6 per cent, Nyagatare with 74.3 per cent, Gakenke with 74.2 per cent, and Gatsibo with 73.5 per cent.

Nyamagabe came up with 73.5 per cent, Muhanga with 73.0 per cent, Gicumbi with 73.0 per cent, Rwamagana graded 72.7 per cent, Kirehe with 72.7 per cent, and Bugesera 72.6 per cent.

Kamonyi scored 72.5 per cent, followed by Nyamasheke at 71.9 per cent, Nyaruguru with 70.5 per cent, Huye with 68.8 per cent, Ruhango with 68.4 per cent, Karongi with 67.4 per cent, and Rusizi with 66.9 per cent.

Burera passed at 66.0 per cent, Kayonza at 65.8 per cent, Nyanza at 65.6 per cent, Ngororero at 65.0 per cent, Musanze at 64.1 per cent, Rubavu at 62.6 per cent, and Rutsiro at 61.0 per cent.

At the bottom were Rulindo with 59.1 per cent and Nyabihu with 54.4 per cent.

The contracts, signed between government ministers, district mayors, senior executives of various Boards, and the Head of State, are aimed at accelerating the realisation of the country’s development ambitions as outlined in national strategic plans.
