Rayon Sports, on Thursday night, defeated Police FC 4–2 in a penalty shootout to secure a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 Peace Cup at Kigali Pelé Stadium.
The quarter-final tie ended goalless over two legs, forcing the contest into extra time and eventually penalties after neither side could find a breakthrough in 120 minutes.
Rayon Sports converted four of their penalties through Olivier Kwizera, Joachaim Vigninou, Yves Habimana and Fall Ngagne, while Police FC scored twice via Ekeson Okorie and Christian Ishimwe.
Obed Uwumukiza missed for Rayon Sports, while Police FC’s Lague Byiringiro and Issah Yakubu also failed to convert their spot-kicks.
Rayon Sports started the match on the front foot, applying early pressure in search of a goal, but Police FC’s defence remained resolute throughout normal time.
Police FC were reduced to 10 men in the 51st minute after a red card, a setback that affected their rhythm, although they continued to defend stubbornly.
With extra time producing no goals, the match was decided from the spot, where Fall Ngagne calmly converted the decisive penalty to seal victory for Rayon Sports.
Rayon Sports will now face Gorilla FC in the semi-finals after the latter eliminated AS Kigali, while APR FC will take on Etincelles FC in the other last-four clash.
