The 98th Academy Awards took place on March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, bringing together filmmakers, actors and industry professionals to celebrate outstanding achievements in films released in 2025.
Hosted by Conan O'Brien, the ceremony recognised major productions across several categories, with One Battle After Another emerging as the biggest winner of the night.

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film collected six awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay, making it the most decorated production at this year’s ceremony.
Acting winners
In the acting categories, Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor for his performance in the thriller Sinners. The film entered the ceremony with 16 nominations, the highest among this year’s contenders.
The Best Actress award went to Jessie Buckley for her role in the historical drama Hamnet.
In the supporting acting categories, Sean Penn won Best Supporting Actor for his role in One Battle After Another, while Amy Madigan received Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Weapons.
Other major winners
In other categories, KPop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature, while the Norwegian drama Sentimental Value took home the Best International Feature Film award—marking the first time a film from Norway has won in the category.
The documentary Mr. Nobody Against Putin claimed the Best Documentary Feature award.
In the technical categories, Avatar: Fire and Ash won Best Visual Effects, while the motorsport drama F1 secured the Best Sound award.
Among the night’s surprises, Timothée Chalamet, who had been widely tipped as a strong contender for Best Actor for his role in Marty Supreme, left the ceremony empty-handed.
Despite receiving multiple nominations, the film concluded the night without any wins.
