DESPITE Rwanda being drawn in a tricky Group (8) for the 2012 Nations Cup qualification campaign, Amavubi’s new head coach Sellas Tetteh is putting his immediate focus on the upcoming CHAN qualifiers.

Rwanda face tricky tests in Ivory Coast, Benin and neighbours Burundi but Tetteh, who guided Ghana to the 2009 U-20 Fifa World Cup title in Egypt, believes that it’s important to deal with one thing at a time.

Amavubi open their CHAN campaign next month against Eritrea and Tetteh reckons that for now, focus should be on qualifying for CHAN.

"For now, we should put all our efforts in trying to qualify for CHAN and then focus on Ivory Coast when the time comes.”

Rwanda will open their 2012 CAN qualification campaign in September with an away tie against a star-studied Ivory Coast side and Tetteh is relishing to lead his wasps in Yamoussoukro.

Tetteh, who officially begins his two-year contract on March 1 has dubbed the Rwandan job a ‘big challenge’ but believes he has the credentials to achieve the set targets.

"This is definitely one of the biggest challenges in my coaching career but I love challenges because they bring the best out of me.”

The 2012 Nations Cup will be jointly held in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon respectively.
