AFTER a forgettable display in Tuesday’s friendly against Ethiopia’s St. George, APR have two days to lift themselves ahead of Saturday’s crunch Orange Champions League return leg against Angola’s Recreativo de Libolo.

The national league champions flew to Addis Ababa hoping for a confidence booster result but to their dismay, the tables were turned on them as they went down 3-0 against the rampant Ethiopians.

Former APR, Rayon Sport and Police striker Jimmy Gatete was on the score sheet for St.George, who have a good chance of reaching the next stage of the competition (Orange Champions League) after holding Sudanese giants EL Merreikh to a goalless draw in the first leg.

Erik Paske now has to go back to the drawing board and lift the players’ morale before Saturday’s tie. APR failed to make the most of their home advantage as they were held to a 2-all draw in the first leg which was played at Nyamirambo’s Regional stadium.

Malawi international Victor Nyirenda and Kabange Twite, who will miss Saturday’s tie due to a knee injury, scored APR’s goals while Afonso Fuxito scored Recreativo’s goals to keep the Angolan side in the contest.

Paske will now look to the trio of Kalisa Mao, Didier Kapet and Abbas Rassou, who missed the first leg.

APR landed in Luanda yesterday and the winner between the two sides will go on to play reigning African champions TP Mazembe of DRC.

TP Mazembe recently lifted the African Super Cup after a 2-0 victory over Stade Malien.
